Skylar At The Dentist

Skylar had her first dental check up today and she did so good! Here she is getting x-rays. Everything they asked her to do she did without hesitation.
She loved the big cow chair.
Here she is getting ready to have her teeth cleaned. She's tipping her head back so she can watch the movie on the ceiling. The tech started moving the chair back but she was too impatient. Then when he got it all the way back she stayed this way until I went and straightened her head. It was so funny!
Here she is watching the "loovie" (that's how Skylar says it). Looking pretty stylish! Actually none of it lasted very long. She took the sunglasses and headphones off within a minute of having them on.
Saying cheese! So, she had one small cavity on a back, upper tooth. We're really happy because we haven't been very good at helping her brush her teeth. We thought she'd have lots of cavities. Guess this is our second chance to do better with her teeth. Man I hope she has Kerby's genes as far as teeth go. Fisher too, I already know Kadin and Levi have my teeth genes...poor kids!
Skylar loved the dentist, which makes me so happy. All my kids like the dentist, I completely dislike it so I'm so glad they like it.
And I just had to throw this in here. Tonight she sneaked out of bed, grabbed a box of Pringles, laid down on the floor and started eating them. Well, then she fell asleep with one in her hand. I walked in the room with it still in her hand then watched it drop out of her hand onto her cheek.

Fishing In The Tub

Well, this is a first and a last! Kerby and the kids came home from ice fishing today and I was downstairs doing a project for primary. I come upstairs to find this....
The kids had put some small fish in the bath tub and started fishing for them. There is no limit to these white bass because the lake is overpopulated with them so instead of returning the little fish to the lake which would most likely die anyways they kept them for cat fish bait.  When they got home a couple were still alive so they decided to put them in the tub and fish for them and play with them.

They were so nice and even added some wax worms and bread crumbs to the water!
Guess who's cleaning the bath tub? Not mom!
The fish just swam around like they'd found their new home.

So, I let them have their fun for a few minutes then the fish were out!

Skylar Says

Skylar was playing with her little pony just barely and said to the pony, "don't say no to me." She sits for a few moments and says, "don't say no to me, you say....you say....umm you say, mommy what does it say, it not say no so what does it say?" HUGE eye opener for me. I tell her and she hears me tell the boys not to say no to me but she has no idea why and what she should say instead. Guess I learned something important and need to teach it to her next time I tell one of them not to say no to me.

Shaving Cream

This is what Skylar did while I did my project today. At least she took her pants off first so they didn't get shaving cream all over too. I had put some shaving cream on a plate for Fisher to write his sight words in and I figured Skylar would play with it a little bit but not like this because she just can't stand to be messy. So, I went back to my searching for a flash drive and cleaning off the computer desk. As soon as I saw her she said, "momma I need a bath." Torture for her would have been to say no but I couldn't do that and risk getting shaving cream all over my house.

Skylar and Fisher say...

On Monday

Today after I dropped Fisher off at school this was mine and Skylar's conversation:
Skylar: Can I have a fruit snack?
Me: Are you going to cry some more? (I had told her she could have one after we got back and she cried for a few minutes)
Skylar: No I'm d_____
Me: What?
Skylar: NO I'm D_____
Me: Oh you're done? You're done crying?
Skylar: NO I'M DIED!
Me: You died? (chuckling)
Skylar: YES I'M DIED! GIVE ME A FRUIT SNACK!
Me: So you're done crying?
Skylar: YES! MOM! I SAID I'M DIED!
Me: Don't scream at me Skylar, you won't get a fruit snack if you're going to scream at me.
Skylar: OK!
Me: When we get home you can have one but tell mommy sorry for screaming.
waiting.......
..........
......
...
Skylar: Sorry momma, now can I have a snack? I'm died again.
Me: Yes Skylar you can have one, how did you die?
Skylar: I JUST SAID!
Me: Don't scream, what did you say?
Skylar: Where's my snack?

I never did find out what she was meaning and I'm pretty sure she (obviously) has no clue what death means. She does know our dog Puddles died, she said goodbye to her before she did and sometimes she talks about Puddles dying so now I'm not sure what she thinks of death.

New story. Monday while I was at work Kerby, Fisher and Skylar were at Sportsman's Warehouse and Kerby was reading shirts to Fisher. He read one that said, "If my sister were a fish I'd throw her back!" Fisher got all excited and said that he really wanted that shirt. He wasn't very happy when Kerby didn't get it for him, maybe for his birthday we'll get it.  Funny but poor Skylar.

Anniversary Dinner by kids

Well today was mine and Kerby's 12th wedding anniversary. All week two of our kids have been sick so we haven't had a chance to really go out and do anything for our anniversary. So when I started talking about getting dinner started Kadin and Levi spoke up and said they wanted to cook the fish that they caught yesterday. Then they ran up the stairs and started to make it by themselves. They needed a little help, mostly just some instructions, they did a really good job. I wish I'd thought about taking some pictures of them making it. All I got was a picture of some of the battered and fried fish. Our favorite way to eat fish! Just dip in fry sauce (my preferred way) or tartar sauce (Kerby's preferred way). To cook the fish you just dip the fish in milk and then into our favorite batter, "New Orleans Seasoned Fish Fry." Then fry in a deep fryer at 350ยบ for about 5 min. or till it's golden brown and a little crispy on the edges. YUM! It was so good. It's always so good when we haven't had it for a while, and when it's caught fresh from the ice cold water! Oh and the fish was bluegill but any pan fish or cat fish or walleye is good. That was so sweet of them!

Skylar and makeup

Skylar decided to put my lipstick on, don't you think she did a pretty good job?
I think she must have been going for the raccoon look.
Oh, underneath the gold lipstick was black mascara all over her eyebrows.
She shed some tears while I was wiping off the mascara. :(
The rest of the day she looked like she really had makeup on (only the right way).

Fisher says

While eating dinner Skylar wanted some milk. Well, we were out so she started crying because it's her favorite drink.
Fisher(age 5): "Well if we just pray to Heavenly Father and go open the fridge there would be milk!"
Mom: "Um, yes that's true, if you had enough Faith and we needed it there would be some milk in the fridge."
Fisher: "How do we get more Faith, with pop?"
Everyone else at the table: Lots of laughter
Fisher: "Well, is that what pop does?"
Mom: "I don't know if pop does anything good for you but Faith is when you believe in something you can't see or that you think is impossible."
Fisher: "Oh ya I remember that now, Faith doesn't come from pop!"
