Pinterest!

Oh dear! Today I tried Pinterest and like I thought, I'm hooked! So many friends kept telling me about it and I decided I better check it out myself to see what all they hype is about. I LOVE IT! So, I got on about 10 min. ago and already have "pinned" 10 things. So fun, so many interesting things and ideas. In the future, I'll pin some of my own things on there if I feel they're "pin" worthy lol. If you haven't check it out yet let me know if you want to and I'll send you an invite. Just comment below or inbox me on Facebook with your email and send an invite over. Why did I wait so long?!?

Contagion Movie Trailer

Kerby and I went to see this movie. I really liked it, Kerby thought it was ok. It definitely made us want to wash our hands more often and not touch anything. I can't believe how fast a virus can travel when it's that bad, and all because of....well you'll have to watch it to find out!
FYI some parts are pretty gruesome and disgusting.

Skylar and makeup

Skylar decided to put my lipstick on, don't you think she did a pretty good job?
I think she must have been going for the raccoon look.
Oh, underneath the gold lipstick was black mascara all over her eyebrows.
She shed some tears while I was wiping off the mascara. :(
The rest of the day she looked like she really had makeup on (only the right way).

New hair-do. Elastic braid, side pony tail

This was my first time trying this hair-do. I really like how it turned out! Doesn't she look cute?!

Comb the hair to the side you want it on.
Take the first strand of hair close to the forehead.

Put it in an elastic band, close to the scalp.
Take another strand of hair and combine it with the first, then put in another elastic band.

Take a third strand and combine it with the others.
Comb the remaining hair over to the side and combine it to the rest.
(Or you can leave it and not have all the hair up).

Water Well

Well I saw a water well for the first time. Out here on the farm they were starting to worry again about their water supply, so they drilled some wells with a little bit of luck. Then they decided one day to take this well that was already started and drill through the rock that was stopping it. They drilled to about 800 ft. and got excellent results. Water is shooting out more and faster than they've ever seen. And the water is warm, very warm. They figure that deep in under the rock the water must be hot because before that the water was warm. I think they need to build a swimming pool.
We took turns touching it sorta made me want to jump in and swim.
The well is truly a miracle and blessing for the farm. They have prayed for this for a long time and their great Faith has really blessed them with this miracle.

Outdoors

Today I'm thankful for the outdoors, I really feel a calm and peaceful feeling when I'm in the mountains. I love the smell of pine trees. I enjoy the wide open space there is to be in. I enjoy hiking around enjoying the beautiful scenery.

Christmas Tree Hunt

Today we went and cut down our Christmas tree. This is a tradition we've had since we got married, we've never missed a year! Today I by some miracle was the one who found the "perfect" tree, and I cut it down too. We always have a ton of fun finding our tree. This year we were with cousins. There were lots of good choices in the area so we didn't have to search long. Out of all the trees we've cut down I've never been the one to cut the tree down, so today I decided I wanted to do it!
We just put the tree on top of the Tahoe until we got back to Gramps' truck and I sat on the door out the window and held it on. The kids thought that was pretty funny. Everyone (but me) had hot chocolate afterward and left over turkey sandwiches, then some went searching for pine nuts; but I didn't get a pic of any of that because my battery died.
This first pic is of Skylar, Kadin and Kale while driving to the tree hunting spot.

Family

Today I'm thankful for my family and Kerby's family. I'm so grateful for all they do for me and my little family. Each person in each family brings different blessings into our lives. I love each and every one of them! Right now I get to spend time with Kerby's family and am really enjoying spending more time with them.

Bonneville Salt Flats

We came to Nevada for Thanksgiving this year, we travel past the Bonneville Salt Flats about once a year and we always stop at the rest stop but have never walked onto the salt flats. So, this year we decided to. It was really cool to walk on all that salt!
I set the camera to take a picture after 10 seconds and hurried and ran over to be in the pic. The kids played around for a little bit, had fun holding some salt and throwing rocks. When we got there someone was playing football on it, maybe we'll do that our next trip!

I wonder how many grains of salt are just in my hand?

I cheated! Someone had spelled Christina with the rocks and I changed it to Kristi! Is that mean?

Unfortunately the foot wash was turned off so it wouldn't freeze.

They go on for miles and miles.

My heritage

Today I'm thankful for my heritage, I'm so grateful for my pilgrim family members who traveled from so many places to make it possible for me to be where I'm at today. I love where I live, I love my country. The trials and hardships some went through were horrendous and I'm feeling so very thankful for them.

Yummy Pilgrim Hats

Today the kids and I made pilgrim hats out of marshmallows, chocolate and icing. The kids had a big laugh while making these. You can see that Skylar just wanted to eat it, instead of finish it! I think they turned out really cute and the kids love them!

First you take a fudge striped cookie.

Place it upside down onto wax paper.

Place a marshmallow on top of the cookie.

Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl.

With a toothpick dip the marshmallow in the chocolate. Then spoon chocolate over the top near the toothpick.

Put the marshmallow onto the cookie.

We also made some with a marshmallow underneath for a head.

Now take some yellow icing and make a buckle on the front of the hat.

If you decide to make a head, take some black icing and make a face. Cute!

Red Hot Pineapple

Mmmm these are yummy! My mother in-law Nancy taught me this recipe the first Thanksgiving we ever had together. I make it a point to have it at every Thanksgiving now.

Ingredients:
1 can Pineapple Chunks
1/2 pkg Red Hots

Drain about half the pineapple juice, pour into a bowl, pour in the red hots, you can use half a package or the whole things, it just depends on how hot you want your pineapple. Stir the red hots into the pineapple and let the red hots dissolve, stirring once in a while.

Crumbly Apple Pie

I'm not a fan of apple pie but this pie from my sister in-law Jessica is by far the best apple pie I've ever tasted! So yummy!

Crust:
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. chilled solid vegetable shortening
1/4 c. ice water

Filling:
7 medium apples, peeled, cored and very thinly sliced
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt

Topping:
3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/3 c. chilled butter

Preheat oven to 400ยบ. To prepare crust, in a medium bowl, mix together flour and salt. Using pastry blender or 2 knives, cut shortening into flour mixture until coarse crumbs form. Add water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, tossing with a fork, until a dough forms. Shape into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for 30 min. On a floured surface, using a floured rolling pin, roll dough into a 12 inch circle. Fit into a 9 inch pie pan. Trim excess dough, leaving a 1 inch overhang; make a decorative edge. To prepare filling, mix together all ingredients. Spoon into crust. To prepare topping, in a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, flour, and nutmeg. Using a pastry blender or two knives, put butter into brown sugar mixture until coarse crumbs form. Sprinkle apples evenly with topping. Bake pie until topping is lightly browned and filling is bubbly, 35 min. If pie is over-browning, cover loosely with aluminum foil. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.

My Family

Tonight I'm thankful for Kerby and my kids. I don't know what I would do without them. Each one of them brings so many blessings into my life. Yes we have our trials but every single one of them is worth having the family I have. I am so happy with my family and to be living the life I have. I am so blessed to be the wife and mother of such wonderful people. I love you Kerby, Kadin, Levi, Fisher and Skylar!
